Leading Tamil actor Jayam Ravi's 2008 film Dhaam Dhoom is being dubbed in Telugu as Rakshakudu. M.V. Gopal Rao of Jyothi Arts, which bought the dubbing rights of several Tamil movies, has bought the Telugu dubbing rights of this film also.

Dhaam Dhoom was the last film written and directed by cinematographer turned director Jeeva (who died of acute cardiac arrest in Russia during this film's production). Harris Jayaraj is the music composer. Kangna Ranaut and Lakshmi Rai are the heroines.

Jayam Ravi plays the role of a successful doctor Gautham Subramaniam, while Kangna Ranaut plays Gautham's fiancee Shenba in Pollachi. Lakshmi Rai appears as Aarthi Chinappa, Gautham's interpreter and lawyer.
