The residence of director Thirumalai of ‘Thee Nagar’ and ‘Agam Puram’ fame became the target of thieves Thursday evening, when a gang entered the house in Saligramam and took away some gold jewellery.

It is said that the incident took place when the domestic help was watching television. After barging into the house, the gang members tied up the 17-year-old maid and forced open a chest in the house.

They took away all the jewels that were stored in the almirah. A police complaint was registered immediately and Virugambakkam police, along with forensic experts, rushed to the spot within no time and conducted enquiries.

The police suspect the hand of a former employee of Thirumalai behind the incident. Vadapalani Assistant Commissioner of Police Sreenivasan said investigation is on and the culprits will be detained soon.
