Ace director Mani Ratnam celebrates his birthday that falls today, June 2. His movies have made the film industry and movie-buffs remain awestruck, as they deal with every script in a unique fashion.

Right from his directorial debut 'Pallavi Anu Pallavi' in Kannada, till his latest venture 'Ravanan,' no movie of his has failed to create magic.

His big break in Tamil came in 1986 through 'Mouna Ragam' and ever since, there has been no looking back for Mani. The movie showcases an evergreen concept, reflecting the struggles a newly married couple undergoes, a perfect concept that reflects Indian society, relevant till date.

He saw the first-ever peak of his success through 'Nayagan' that is one of the legendary movies in the Tamil film industry and features Kamal Hassan in the lead role. The movie inspired from the book 'The Godfather' and a real-life underworld don, showcases a poor boy from the slums of Mumbai who goes on to become one of the most feared dons in the country.

His movies reflecting terrorism are also noteworthy and set whole new trends, yes, we are referring to 'Roja,' 'Bombay' and 'Uyire.' Other movies worth a mention are 'Kannathil Muthamittal' and 'Guru.'

The ace director has worked only with two music legends so far for all his directorial ventures, Illayaraja (who also celebrates his birthday today) and A R Rahman. This shows his consistency and the rapport he shares with his cast and crew.

Mani Ratnam has bagged several accolades for his contribution to the film industry including various National Awards, nine Filmfare Awards and about twelve International Film Festival Awards.

He is known as a trend-setter among directors in the Indian film industry and an idol for most budding filmmakers, he is one of those few directors in the country with whom every actor craves to work with. He also has then credit of introducing some of the best talents to the film industry in the form of actors, cinematographers and others.

We @ TheCinemanews wish this ace filmmaker a very happy birthday and good health and success in all the years to come. Do post your wishes in here…
