Members of Tamil Film Producers Council and Tamil Film Distributors Federation on Friday expressed confidence that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa would sort out their problems.
A meeting of office-bearers of both the bodies was held in Chennai on Friday, where problems faced by the industry were discussed in detail. Speakers at the meeting expressed concern about exorbitant ticket prices imposed in some theatres.
"Small budget producers and directors are affected a lot as a result. The government should step in and ensure that reasonable rates were collected in theatres all over the State. We are hopeful that the Chief Minister is aware of all our problems and would find a solution soon," an office-bearer said.
The meeting was attended by captains of the industry, including Producers Council president S A Chandrasekaran, Distributors Association Chief Kalaipuli, G Sekaran and others. Meanwhile, theatre owners have thanked the State government for announcing that tax exemption would be provided to films provided they satisfy some conditions.
