Ravichandran was admitted to the hospital on July 17 after he suffered from lung-related ailment. However, there was no improvement in his health despite sincere efforts from the doctors, it is said.

"The 71-year-old actor is now in a critical condition. Doctors have been monitoring his health round the clock. His family members, including son and actor Hamsavardhan, are praying for Ravichandran's recovery," said sources.

Ravichandran, who started his journey as an actor with the evergreen 'Kadhalikka Neramillai' in 1964, was a much sought after actor of those days. He has also acted in supporting roles in some recent Tamil movies.
