Navrathri, a nine-day auspicious festival, is celebrated all over India colourfully. And today is Vijayadashami, the tenth day.
Vijayadashami is considered as an auspicious occasion to start new
projects. Vijayadashami also known as Dussehra, is one of the most
important festivals celebrated in various forms, across India, Nepal and
Bangladesh. Usually the harvest season begins at this time and a puja
conducted to start the new harvest season and reactivate the vigor and
fertility of the soil. Vijayadashami is also dedicated to Saraswati the
goddess of learning and Durgaa the goddess of strength.
The day also marks the victory of Sri Rama over Ravana and in the
northern part of India, the burning of the effigies of Ravan,
Kumbhakarna and Meghnad mark the day's celebrations. The story of Ram is
staged on this occasion.
We, KollyInsider wish all our readers a very happy Vijayadashami.
