AP increasing tax for dubbed movies

Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce has formed a committee to provide proposals to crack down on dubbed movies releasing in the state that are affecting the business of straight Telugu movies.


The committee, consisting of producers like D. Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, Burugupalli Shivarama Krishna, Nattikumar and exhibitors and distributors like Bhupal, Rama Subba Reddy, Vijayender Reddy and Haranath Ramess, has decided to pass some resolutions like increasing the tax on dubbed movies from the current 20% to 50 % and restricting the number of screens for dubbed movies.

Besides, only straight Telugu movies will be allowed to release during important festivals like Vinayaka Chathurthi, Dussera, Deepavali and Sankranthi. These restrictions are expected to be implemented from Jan 1, 2012.
