Nayantara says 'I felt the pain of a wife'

I felt the pain of a wife, says Nayantara
Actress Nayantara’s la(te)st Telugu film Sri Ramarajyam has been running to packed houses all over the State of Andhra Pradesh.
The actress, who is all set to tie the nuptial knot with choreographer-director Prabhudeva early next year, has played Sita, wife of Lord Ram, in the film.  Popular Telugu star Balakrishna has played Lord Ram in the film.

The film is touted as Nayan’s last film before she settles down in matrimony.  The actress, though, remains non-committal about continuing to act in films after her marriage.  Nayan has remarked that the experience of playing the role of Sita, revered by many women, was simply ecstatic.  “I could feel the pain of a woman who is separated from her husband when I played the role,” she has said.

The film is likely to be released soon in Tamil in its dubbed version.  “The film has helped me undergo a sea-change in my perception of women’s attitude towards their husbands.  I watched the film on 18th November on my birthday and loved every moment of it.  When I was offered the role initially, I felt apprehensive and feared if I’d be able to do justice the role of Sita.  I then took it up as a challenge and the result is heart-warming.

“The director helped me a lot in portraying my character for which I toiled a lot.  I was on fasting and lived the character while playing it.  I went to the temple daily, offered pooja and became a vegetarian during the shooting of the film.  I’m also thankful to Balakrishna who recommended me to play the role of Sita,” concludes Nayan.
