A recent on-line survey conducted by a Telugu website has proved beyond doubt that superstar Rajinikanth is the ‘undisputed’ superstar of the country.
Though many top Bollywood stars are referred to as superstars, Rajinikanth happens to be the only actor in the country who has been bestowed with the title of ‘superstar’.

In today’s scenario, the world ‘superstar’ refers to actors who are on top in their respective film industries.  As such, the country has many superstars in languages like the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil film industries.  In fact, the term ‘superstar’ refers to the status of the actor as-far-as (his hit) films concerned.

The on-line poll, held by a leading film-based Telugu website, asked the readers and viewers to vote as whom they liked most among the list of superstars in Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.  In all, there were nine stars in the fray who had left their indelible impression in their respective film industry and among the fans for the past three decades.

Rajini bagged 66 percent of the votes polled, proving to be the indisputable ‘Indian superstar’.  The next actor who came close to Rajini was Shah Rukh who got 11 percent of the votes.  All other stars, including Amitabh Bachchan (3%) could manage only single digit percent of votes.  Kamal Haasan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan got 9%, 5% and 4% respectively of the votes polled.

All doubts as to who is India’s greatest star have been laid to rest!
