Rajni wanted to see Velayudham within a few days after watching Ezham Arivu. In fact Surya's wife Jyothika had invited Rajni to see Ezham Arivu. But Rajni wanted to see Velayudham.
So a date was fixed for this film to be screened in a preview theatre.


At this juncture some of the Kannada fanatics protested before the theatres where Velayudham was being screened in Karnataka. Velayudham distributors were frustrated because of this.
Super star who was aware that he seeing this film will also create a controversy, cancelled this programme.
