Dhanush’s 3 and Karthi’s Saguni postponed due to new rules of TFPC

It looks like Aishwarya Dhanush's directorial venture 3 and Karthi's Saguni which were to release in February have been postponed to April.

Recently Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has issued a circular that big hero films can only release during festival time.

TFPC had said henceforth big hero films will release only during five important festival and national holidays – Pongal, Tamil New Year, May Day, Independence Day and Deepavali.

TFPC had made it clear that this was to encourage small films, which were finding it difficult to get theatrical release.

As per earlier scheduling Dhanush's 3 was slated for release on 3 February and Karthi's Saguni on February 17. Now as per the new rules of TFPC, these films can release the earliest only on Tamil New Year ( Friday, April 13).

The producers of both the films had approached TFPC to make an exemption but the council struck to its decision. Remember 22 small films are waiting for release in February?

The producers of 3 and Saguni have now agreed that they will go for a April 13 release. It clearly means that Ajith's Billa 2 slated for release on Tamil New Year day will be pushed to May 1, his birthday and the next available slot for release of big films.
