Veteran filmmaker and former president of Tamil Film Producers Council Rama Narayanan will direct the Kannada version of the comical thriller Kanchana in Kannada.

Titled Kalpana, the movie stars Upendra in the lead. He replaces Lawrence Raghavendra in the Kannada version. Lakshmi Rai, who played the heroine in the Tamil version, has been retained for the role.

Popular Kannada actor Sai Kumar, who played baddie in many Tamil movies, will play the part of an eunuch (enacted by Sarath Kumar in the original).
