Director A R Murugadoss, actors Vijay, Dhanush and Jiiva and many others watched the film and praised the acting skills of the lead pair Amy Jackson and Prateik Babbar and the sparkling on-screen chemistry between them.
'Ekk Deewana Tha' is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster 'Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya' in which Simbhu and Trisha played the lead. The film was later made in Telugu also as 'Ye Maaya Chesave' and was a big hit in Andhra also.
A R Rahman scored the music in all the languages and made the songs chartbusters. More than the film's on-screen chemistry between the lead pair Amy Jackson and Prateik in 'Ekk Deewana Tha' their off-screen affairs made headlines in film media. The news on the 'close friendship' of this pair in one way also helped the film in its promotion.
The film has received mixed response across the country but has given a big opening in Bollywood for director Gautham Menon.
