No Film Activities & No Shows in Theatres Today!

In protest against the Central Government's decision to levy 10.3 Service tax, All India Film Federation has decided to go on one day strike today.

There will not be any show in the theatres across the country today, and all the film industries in the country have cancelled their shoot schedules also today.

The South Indian film associations including Producers' Council, Directors' Union, Tamil Film Distributors Association, Theatre Owners and Exhibitors Association, Nadigar Sangam, FEFSI and Film Chamber met on Tuesday and decided to go with the All India Film Federation to join the one day strike today.

Abhirami Ramanathan, President of Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association says, "We all have decided to shut down theatres in Tamil Nadu cancelling all shows today to ask the Government to reconsider the decision of levying Service 10.3 Tax on the industry."

"It is totally unfair from the part of the Government to levy this Tax on us when the industry is already reeling under lot of problems," Sarathkumar, President of Nadigar Sangam.
