Many films in all Indian languages have been made on the notorious forest brigand Veerappan. Now noted producer and director AMR Ramesh, who specialises in making films on controversial police encounters (Kuppi) is back with a film on Veerappan.

Ramesh's Vana Yuddham is based on the early life and times of Veerappan. Says AMR Ramesh: " It is a detailed story on Veerappan shot in actual locations where the forest brigand operated and will have a lot of things which were untold so far."

Vana Yuddham has popular villain turned character actor Kishore who has an uncanny resemblance to Veerappan doing the all important role. Vijayalakshmi plays Veerappan's wife Muthulakshmi. 'Action King' Arjun does the role of STF chief Vijayakumar who hunted down the outlaw.

Yesteryear actress Jayachitra will play the role of Jayalalithaa in whose earlier rule, the sandalwood smuggler was gunned down.

AMR Ramesh says he has done a lot of research on the subject and the film is the real story of Veerappan.
