Director Rajesh, who seems to have his finger on the pulse of the audience, has proved himself once again with OKOK, the huge response to the film and overflowing theatres, a clear mandate of the people in his favour.
He speaks to US in a quick chat about his film…
OKOK has released last Friday. How has the response been?
The response has been just overwhelming. The opening has been much bigger than what I anticipated. I am grateful to the audiences for the huge opening they have given us. I have been on theatre rounds the whole day and its hugely encouraging for the entire team.
With two hits already in your kitty, did you feel a pressure to deliver a hit yet again?
Yes, the pressure was there but my focus is always on how best to entertain the audiences and I just kept that in mind while making the film.
How was it directing debutant Udayanidhi?
We did several rehearsals before shooting to get him comfy with the camera and the set up. We also shot with a handycam for several days so that he got used to the situation. But he managed to do a great job.
Hansika is looking very pretty and has displayed good histrionics. How did you think of casting her?
I saw Engeyum Kadhal her film opposite Jeyam Ravi and liked her performance in it. So when casting for OKOK I thought she would be just right for the role. This is a script based role and she has proved me right judging by the response!
Usually you have Arya and Jiiva in guest appearances ….
Yes, this time only Arya was available and he was kind enough to oblige.
Did you face any challenges while you shot the film?
Shooting on the roads in the midst of traffic was very challenging.
What's your next move?
Next week we are traveling down south for theatre visits with the team. Then I will start work on Azhagu Raja for Studio Green, starring Karthi.
