Ilaiyaraja takes Ram Gopal Verma to court
Isaignani Ilaiyaraja, the maestro par excellence, is normally a very quiet person and composed. But, it is sad that people provoke him and disturb his peace.
The veteran is fed up of people lifting his tunes without going through proper channels, has decided to take a stand. Ram Gopal Varma, noted director and producer wished to use Ilaiyaraja's famous, ever-green Aasai Nooru Vagai from the Rajini starrer 'Adutha Varisu' for his Hindi film, Department starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rana Daggubati.

When Ilaiyaraja was approached he was reluctant to part with the rights to the song but agreed to let them use 30 seconds of the tune. But to the maestro's surprise, the tune was used throughout the song. Not stopping with this, the producers were audacious enough not to respond to Ilaiyaraja when he tried to clarify the issue. Angered by their behavior, Ilaiyaraja has taken legal action and requested a ban on the song used in Department. The Judge has ordered a stay on the song for a week so that the issue can be revolved.
