Talking about the legendary movie, the movie, directed by Bharathiraaja, has been a landmark for the legends from Kollywood industry. Apart from the great performance of Kamal Haasan as 'Chappani', the major highlight of the movie was the inimicable style of Rajinikanth. His ” Idhu eppadi irukku”, in a cunning tone, was a super popular. The film has also been the debut for the legendary comedian Goundamani .

Now, the re-run is being produced at a budget of one crore by adding new sound effects and colors to it. Maestro Ilayaraja is likely to re-compose or re-process some of the music in the film to give a better clarity in the digital audio. The production team is gearing up for a diwali release.
