Thuppaki satellite rights sold to Vijay TV
The buzz in town now is that the satellite rights of the Vijay starrer Thuppaki has been bagged by Vijay TV. Interestingly, it was the same television channel that had bagged the rights of Nanban as well.

Earlier there were reports that Jaya TV is in fray to bag the rights and the deal is in the final stages of conclusion. But now, we hear that Thuppaki has landed in Vijay’s court.

News in Detail

Vijay TV has emerged victorious again! The television channel, which bagged satellite rights of Vijay's Nanban earlier this year, has acquired the TV rights of Ilayathalapathy's upcoming movie Thuppakki directed by AR Murugadoss.

The TV channel successfully won the bidding by quoting an undisclosed fancy price. There were a lot of competition for the satellite rights, as Vijay's movies often fetch good TRPs (Target Rating Point). It may be recalled that his recent movie Nanban, which was acquired by Vijay TV, got a record-breaking 11.1 TRPs.

Meanwhile, Vijay TV is planning to air a special programme on Thuppakki, which features Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the leads. Earlier, the channel had produced 'Friend Ah Pola Yaaru?' for Nanban.
However, Thuppakki title issue has been adjourned to August 14. The suit came up for hearing on Tuesday (07.08.2012) before the court on the petition filed by Ravi Devan, who alleged that the title and logo of the Vijay starrer movie share resemblances to his movie Kallathuppakki.
