The search for an young actor is on to replace the outstanding performance made by Ranbir Kapoor, which made the movie to be select from India as an Oscar Nominee among the previously selected list of 16 Indian regional language films. Ileana and Priyanka Chopra have played the female leads for Ranbir Kapoor in Barfi.

Anurag Basu has directed Barfi in Hindi, while viewers have to wait for a while to know which director will come forward to remake this Oscar nominee. UTV Motion Pictures, who has produced the Hindi version of Barfi will also produce the Tamil version too.
