Sun TV refused to buy Rajini's Kochadaiyaan?
Sun TV, the leading Tamil entertainment television, has been ruling the TV market for over a decade. When it comes to acquiring the satellite rights, it always stood tall by bagging big movies.
However, recently the channel has not bought any notable movies and it was surprised when it did not turn up to join the race to buy the television rights of Kochadaiyaan.

While there were given political colours for Sun TV refusing to come forward to buy the rights and Jaya TV, the channel owned by the ruling political party, snapping the deal, now there emerged a new speculation about the reason behind the former staying out of the race. Well, the buzz is that the Kalanidhi Maran-owned company was not interested in the project because Kochadaiyaan does not come under regular genre.

The fans of Rajinikanth like to see him in his mass avatar but as Kochadaiyaan is a historical movie, the bosses of Sun TV felt that the content may not work with the regular audience. Hence, they choose to opt out of the movie. It is also reported that the makers of Kochadaiyaan approached the Sun TV, but the channel did not show any interest in the project.

However, producer Dr J Murali Manohar has denied reports that they approached Sun TV. He has claimed that they did approach anyone and as Jaya TV came forward and quoted a high price, the makers of Kochadaiyaan sold the rights of the movie to the channel-owned by the ruling party.
