Raj Kiran files case to ban Thiruthani release
Raj Kiran, producer-director- actor, has filed a case with a Chennai Court seeking ban on the release of director Perarasu’s upcoming directorial venture titled Thiruthani which is all set to hit the screens on this 19th (Friday).
Perarasu, who had directed Vijay in a couple of hit films in Tirupachi and Sivakasi, is facing a lean period in Kollywood and has been making Thiruthani for the past two years.

Known for his habit of naming his films after towns and cities, Perarasu’s Thiruthani has an out-of-form Bharath and Sunaina in lead roles. Raj Kiran has played an important role in the film. In his petition with the City Civil Court in Chennai, Raj has said, “V.K. Media has produced Thiruthani with Bharath in the lead; the film is released by NL Cine Screens. I have starred in the film for a previously agreed amount of Rs.60 lakhs, though I demanded Rs.80 lakhs initially.

“I was paid Rs.36 lakhs at the beginning and I demanded my due back as the shoot was about to conclude. I couldn’t get it and I refused to dub for my character in the film. After mediatory talks, it was decided that the balance would be paid in three installments of Rs.5 lakhs (two times) and Rs.14 lakhs just prior to the release of the film in theatres. “

“I trusted the assurance, completed the remaining part of shoot but still I’ve not been paid my dues. Instead of my voice, they have used up somebody’s voice in the film. A case in this regard is pending. Now that media reports say that the film is to release this week, I request you to stay the release of the film till my dues are settled,” the petition concludes thus.
