Like always, this Diwali will also see a lot of fireworks at the box office. There are three major films fighting for eyeballs.
Here's a look at them.
Film: Thuppaki (Gun)
Director. A R Murugadoss
Cast: Vijay, Kajal Agarwal, Vidyut Jamwal
Cameraman: Santosh Sivan
After the not-so-successful 7Aam Arivu wth Suriya in the lead, A R Murugadoss directs Thuppaki , with Vijay in the lead.
The film was shot mainly in Mumbai. It is surprising that Santosh Sivan is behind the camera for such a purely commercial film.
Film: Podaa Podi
Director: Vignesh Sivan
Cast: Silambarasan, Varalakshmy
The film has been in the making for a few years. Varalakshmy, daughter of actor Sarath Kumar makes her debut as a dancer in the film.
This is Silambarasan's next love story after the hugely successful Vinnaithandi Varuvaya directed by Gautham Vasudeva Menon.
The film was shot mainly in London.
Film: Ammavin Kaipesi
Director: Thankar Bachan
Cast: Revathi, Santhanoo, Iiya
This could be the dark horse of this Diwali. Thankar Bachan, who has directed the wonderful award-winning films Azhagi, Onbathu Roopa Nottu, Pallikkodam, etc directs and acts in the film.
The film is based on a short story written by the director about a lonely mother whose only connection with her children is through a mobile phone.
Tamil cinema will set the Box Office on fire with three big releases this Diwali on November 13.
Written and directed by AR Murugadoss' 'Thuppaki' is the first big film, which has grabbed all eyeballs following the controversy with the film's title, promotion and star-cast.
The film stars Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles; she plays a boxer in the film.
The film's music, which is already a hit, is composed by Harris Jayaraj.
If 'Thuppakki' becomes a blockbuster, it will be a hat-trick for Vijay after his last hits; 'Nanban' and 'Velayudham'.
Podaa Podi The other big release of this Diwali is the romantic-musical 'Podaa Podi', which might give a tough competition to 'Thuppakki'.
Directed by debutant Vignesh Shiva, 'Podaa Podi' stars Simbu in the lead role. It will mark the acting debut of actress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar.
The film features music by Dharan Kumar and Simbu has sung three songs for the film.
Produced by Padam Kumar, the film has been in production since 2008.
It's the first Tamil film to be shot at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Ammavin Kaipesi: Written and directed by Thangar Bachchan, 'Ammavin Kaipesi' is a Tamil drama.
It stars Shanthnoo Bhagyaraj and Iniya in the lead roles.
The film's story revolves around an abandoned mother.
The film has been given a clear U certificate by the Censor Board, It's slated to be released on November 13.
Do you think 'Podaa Podi' and 'Ammavin Kaipesi' would be able to give competition to Vijay's 'Thuppakki' ?
