Thiyagarajan Kumararaja's Aaranya Kaandam was a cult gangster flick which released in 2011. This film was produced by S.P.B.Charan and he had to wage a long battle with the censors before releasing the movie.

The film won acclaim at award ceremonies and festival screenings but could not make much merry at the box-office as awareness and promotions for the movie were limited.

Fans have been yearning for a re-release of this movie ever since it started earning a cult following among film buffs. But producer Charan has ruled out any such idea and has said that a re-release of AK is not going to happen.

Fans' hopes of seeing the film at the upcoming Chennai International Film Festival are also not promising as the producer hasn't been contacted by the CIFF yet even after he sent his approval to let them screen AK.
