What’s in a name? It might not be a contributing factor to many films, but this one stands out an exception. David is about the lives of two people with the same name in different places and problems they encounter. It’s a brilliant concept that none had ideated before and Bejoy Nambiar requires special mention for this very reason. The film stars Vikram, Jiiva, Tabu and Isha Sharwani in lead roles with the brand of five music directors that includes Anirudh of Kolaveri fame.

Vaazhkaiye (The Theme of David)
Voice: Siddarth Basrur
Lyrics: Mohanrajan
Music: Bramfatura

Music director Bramfatura seems to have completely relied on sound engineers and they have done a tremendous job. The song runs on a slower note with mild rhythmic accompaniment that gives more clarity to the voice of Siddarth Basrur. The lyrical lines by Mohanrajan are splendidly done in an impressive manner.

Maria Pitache
Voices: Vikram & Remo Fernandes
Music: Remo Fernandes
Lyrics: Remo Fernandes, V Elango

Play this at parties and enhance your celebratory ambience. Remo Fernandes strikes chord with Goanese style with some funny lyrics, especially the portions involving Vikram. The lyrics by V Elango and Remo are the greatest highlights.

Kanave Kanave
Voice: Anirudh
Music: Anirudh
Lyrics: Mohanrajan

Anirudh throws up with a hat-trick spell of successful Chartbuster now. Following the grand success of 3 and Ethir Neechal, music director Anirudh is here with another melody. He doesn’t miss to use his favourite bunch of instruments that include flute and strings. Anirudh has composed a melodious track that has a soulful music and his voice is mesmerizing.

Manamay
Voice: Karthik
Music: Prashant Pillai
Lyrics: Mohanrajan

Manamay is the best among other tracks in this album for the outstanding lyrics that sets a great impact over the listeners. Indeed, it boasts of a colossal effort by music director Prashant Pillai for he adds more intensity with the percussions. Regardless of what a musical genre is, Karthik always delivers his best. To be precise, the song would have not been so much emotional if any other singer had rendered it.

Iravinil Ulavavaa
Singer: Naresh Iyer, Shweta Pandit
Music Director: Prashant Pillai
Lyricist: Yugabharathi

Melodiously composed in style, the song has enchanting playback singers Naresh Iyer and Shwetha Pandit emblazoning to a greater magnitude. The instruments used in this track are so mild that it gives a breezy feeling.

Theerathu Poga Poga Vaanam
Voices: Nirali Karthik & Joyshanthi
Music: Maatibaan
Lyrics: Mohanrajan, Joyshanti

Nothing beats the fusion as it easily captivates our senses for the combination of various musical genres. Maatiban makes it stunningly happen with a combo of rock and classical style. While the vocalizing style is completely based on Carnatic panache, the rhythmic accompaniment is completely western that goes with live drums and guitars.

Machi
Voice: Sanjeev Thomas
Music: Prashant Pillai
Lyrics: Mohanrajan

It sounds like the introduction song of Jiiva playing the role of a guitarist and the tune is little odd for the first few times when you hear it. The raw voice and hard music might turn out to be unconvincing to the listeners, but might have a different phase when it comes with the visuals.

Overall, David has the finest music delivered by various music directors out of which Prashant Pillai brings out every song with more difference. The songs Manamay, Theerathu Poga Poga Vaanam and Iravinil Ulavavaa are the greatest attractions of this album.

Verdict: Music with different experience
