Ineya rejoices at the onset of the New Year

What better way to usher in the New Year with three awards acknowledging your acting prowess, all on the first day of the year! Actress Ineya is the lucky star we’re talking about.
The Malayali girl, who’s been going great guns in Kollywood, received not one, but three awards for her performance in last year’s releases Vaagai Sooda Vaa and Ammavin Kaipesi.

“I couldn’t have begun 2013 on a happier note! Since all the three award functions were in Chennai, I could go to all three and receive them myself,” she gushes.

There’s more reason for Ineya to rejoice at the onset of the New Year. While her much-talked about role as a rustic village belle, Mallanginar Mangatha, in Bharathiraja’s comeback flick Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum, wasn’t eventually incorporated in the film, the actress is thrilled to have bagged a powerful role in a woman-centric film. Director Padmarajan’s Masani will see the actress essaying the title role.

“Interestingly, Masani is a bold woman, much like Mallanginar Mangatha. In fact, even the look I carry off in the film bears some similarity to her. Masani is a powerful character, much like Chandramukhi and Arundhati, which are familiar and powerful women characters in recent times down south filmdom,” Ineya says.
