The film looks like a suspense filled affair about a pair having to navigate their way around a forest. The film has been directed by James David, the man behind films like Rameswaram and Nee Venumda Chellam. Music has been composed by Rajin, camera work is by Ragav and art direction is by Muthuraj. The cast comprises fresh faces such as Abhilash, Sania and Varsha.
Vairamuthu said at the launch that though the title Panivizhum Malarvanam sounds poetic, the film looks like a gritty and tense affair based on the visuals shown. He also recollected how he had told Mani Ratnam during the story narration of Roja that the movie's tense and action-packed content was in stark contrast to the sober title.
Balu Mahendra was visibly impressed with the caliber of present day cinematographers and he said that even his first film was set in a forest.
