Diwali 2013 Dhamaka begins!

Diwali 2013
Diwali is the second biggest festival season for Tamil films and it is falling this year on November 2. So Diwali 2013 weekend starting Friday November 1, is going to be huge for Kollywood.

Nearly five big budget Tamil films are lined up for a Diwali release- Ajith's Arrambam leads the pack. Then there is Selvaraghavan directed Arya's Irandam Ulagam, Karthi's All In All Azhagu Raja, STR's Vaalu and Vikram Prabhu's Ivan Veramathiri.

Among the lot, only two films will finally make it to the finishing line. A festival like Diwali which used to accommodate five to six films in 1980's & 90's can today only take two releases. The basic reason is that Tamil biggies release in large number of screens, and there is hardly 700 odd releasing screens in Tamil Nadu.

As of now, Ajith's Arrambam is a frontrunner for a Diwali release, as he has the biggest opening among all stars in the race. But the film's shoot is yet to be over and post-production may take time. All In All Azhagu Raja shoot is almost complete and post-production work is going on in full swing.

Selvaraghavan's Irandam Ulagam is taking time over its graphics and special effects. STR's Vaalu shooting is still going on, while Vikram Prabhu's Ivan Veramathiri shoot will be over in a week's time.

Meanwhile Tamil Nadu theater owners have told the trade that they will give preference only to films which are censored a week before release. They would also give priority to films which carry U certificate for entertainment tax exemption.

A theatre owner told sify.com : " We are making it clear that our preference is for U certificate films and no unnecessary controversies. We do not want to wake up on Diwali morning and find our film not releasing due to some external problems."
