Prabhudeva an underrated actor: Thangar Bachan

Prabhudeva, who once ruled the Tamil film industry as an actor, will once again be seen playing the lead role in upcoming Tamil romantic-drama "Kalavadiya Pozhuthugal", and its director Thangar Bachan says he likes his acting more than his dancing.

"Undoubtedly, he is a great dancer, but he is an underrated actor as well. People haven't used his potential as an actor because all that we see in him is the dancer. My film will unleash the actor in him and I'm sure audiences are going to love him," Bachan said.

As an actor, Prabhudeva scored back-to-back hits with Tamil films such as "Kadhalan", "Raasaiyaa", "Minsaru Kannavu", "Naam Iruvar Namauku Iruvar", "Kathala Kathala" and "Vanathai Pola". Besides Tamil, Prabhudeva has also starred in a handful of Telugu films such as "Style", "Thotti Gang" and "Santosham".

His dancing has been one of the highlights of his films and he even won two National Film Awards for best choreography. In 2005, Prabhudeva decided to turn director with Telugu film "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana", which was a big hit. After that he wielded the megaphone for Telugu movie "Shankardada Zindabad", "Pokkiri" (Tamil) and Hindi blockbusters "Wanted" and "Rowdy Rathore".

"Kalavadiya Pozhuthugal" has been on floors for nearly three years, but the director is unperturbed by the delay. "It was delayed for various reasons, but that doesn't bother me. It's a story that can relate to the audiences irrespective of the time it comes out. It's a poignant love story told from the male protagonist's perspective," he said.

The film also features Bhumika Chawla, Prakash Raj, Sathyaraj, Santhanam and Ganja Karuppu. It is scheduled to release soon.
