Interestingly, the buzz is that the role was initially offered to Asin, who was part of the first film. Says a source, “Though Akshay Kumar, who played the lead in the first film, had opted out, the makers were initially planning to retain Asin. But after seeing Shruti’s performance in her recent releases, they felt that she will be a better fit for the part. Shruti has also signed on the dotted line.”
The actress seems to be on a roll in Bollywood of late, as she was also recently signed on for Gabbar, the Hindi remake of AR Murugadoss’s 2002 Tamil film Ramana, in which she will be sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar.
