The first-look poster of Edakku that was released recently does not seem to have gone down well with actor Vijay Sethupathi.

Sources close to the actor say that the film, which is the dubbed version of the Kannada film Akhaada, features Vijay Sethupathi only in a minor role. However, the makers of the film are trying to give the impression to the public that the actor will be seen all through the film.

Says a source, “The production team has been promoting the film with just Vijay Sethupathi. However, the truth is that he has not played the lead in the film and will appear in just four scenes. The posters focusing only on Vijay seem to be a cheap publicity tactic. This might damage his image at this point, as he has been appreciated for picking up good scripts.”

When contacted Vijay Sethupathi clarified, saying, “Seven years ago, I acted in this Kannada film. I will be seen only in a few scenes. I am concerned about the audience. They shouldn’t feel cheated after watching the film as I have not even dubbed for the film in Tamil. I will not be seen in a major portion of the film as is being promoted in the posters.”
