There have been rumours doing the rounds for the past few days that Simbu will make a special appearance in a song in Ajith-Gautham Menon's "Thala 55" (Ajith's 55th film).

It is well known that Simbu is a big fan of Ajith and the actor himself has confessed it on several occasions. Even before "Thala 55" could go on floors, there were speculations that Simbu will be part of the film. However, sources close to Gautham Menon and Ajith had denied it as baseless rumours.

Meanwhile Simbu is working on a romantic entertainer “Sattendru Maruthu Vaanilai” which will resume after Gautham Menon finishes Thala’s project.

Thala55 is an untitled flick directed by Gautham Menon. Ajith, Anushka and Trisha play the lead roles. Arun Vijay plays a vital role in the movie. Dan Macarthur is handling the camera. The film produced by AM Rathnam.

The film's shooting commenced in April 2014 and is currently progressing well. For the last few days, there has been buzz that Simbu will be doing a cameo in the Ajith starrer. However, Simbu refuted the reports and clarified that he is not doing "Thala 55."

"I respect Ajith sir and would love to work with him, provided the script has scope. However, I'm not doing his film with Gautham Menon," Simbu was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

"Thala 55" shooting is happening in Chennai and according to reports, 50 percent of the shoot is completed. Anushka Shetty, Trisha Krishnan, Arun Vijay, Vivek, Malayalam actress Devi Ajith, baby Anikha and "Thalaivasal" Vijay are also part of the film's cast.

"Thala 55" is one of the most-anticipated films of 2014. The film has been generating a lot of buzz ever since it went on floors.

Produced by AM Ratnam, "Thala 55" is touted to be an action thriller film with Ajith reportedly appearing in the role of an investigating officer. The film's music is composed by Harris Jayaraj, who has teamed up with Gautham after nearly six years. There will be six songs in the Ajith starrer.

Recently, Harris stated that he has a recorded a romantic number for the film. The song, rendered by singer Karthik, will feature Ajith and Trisha.

The makers of "Thala 55" are yet to announce the film's title. There has been buzz that the first look teaser of the film will be released in August. However, there is no official announcement in this regard.
