Yuvan misses the National Award by a whisker !

When we were busy preparing for our board exams, the timid Yuvan Shankar Raja was at the studio composing for Aravindan when he was barely 16. After the Ilayaraja, A.R. Rahman wave in the early 90s, it was Yuvan Shankar Raja who worked in a number of films with variety to linger.

From regular, commercial chartbusters to composing for films with content, Yuvan comprehended story narration, securing a special place for his soul-stirring background scores and individual songs.

Though Yuvan has been making the right quality music, he has usually been deprived of national and international recognition. It is to be noted here that Yuvan Shankar Raja’s composing in Thanga Meengal missed the ‘Best Music Director’ National Award by just a vote. Director Ram shared the same in a recent Awards event, while accepting the latest round of accolades for his work in the movie.
