In a recent survey conducted by a website, Dhanush has emerged out on top as the ‘most sensational celebrity’ of 2014.

McAfee researched Tamil popular culture's most famous people to reveal the riskiest Kollywood celebrity across the web and unveil the 2014 edition of its ‘Most Sensational Celebrity’ research. Actor Dhanush topped the cyberspace chart as the most sensational celebrity in Kollywood. This is the second year in a row that he stays on top, according to a survey done by security firm McAfee.

Interestingly, the winner of the same title last year was Trisha. The website researched Tamil cinema’s most popular faces to reveal the riskiest Kollywood celebrity across the web — with the most number of malware and malicious content on the internet (based on internet searches by users on these celebrities).

Talking about the study, the vice president of the website, Venkat Krishnapur said, “By including the names of popular celebrities in a website’s search tags, consumers are completely unaware of the security risks that exist which can severely infect their computers, devices and steal personal data. Cyber criminals are consistently looking for ways to take advantage of consumer interest around new movies, TV shows, as well as the latest celebrity-driven trends. For e.g. the selfie craze, the ice bucket challenge videos or internet memes created for sheer fun.”

Dhanush’s movie promos for Shamitabh (with Amitabh Bachchan) on the net have had over 66 infected search results which has put him in the top slot this year. He is followed closely by Arya (59 infected websites online) and Nayanthara with 58 malicious websites to her name. Last year’s winner Trisha ranks fourth, along with Suriya, who have 57 malicious sites to their name.
