Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s AR Murgadoss directed Kaththi, produced by Lyca Productions is in trouble.
The film has been censored with a U certificate and is all set to release worldwide on Diwali day –
October 22. Tamizhar Vazhvurimai Katchi leader Velmurugan has been fiercely protesting against the film.
They say the film’s producer Lyca Productions is close to Sri Lankan president Rajapakse. They want the film’s producers name to change. On Saturday evening Thol. Thirumavalavan, president of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi joined the ‘ban Kaththi’ fray.
External players have been putting pressure on Kaththi producer to change the banner. But Lyca is making it clear that the film will release only under their banner name.
Meanwhile a crucial meeting between Tamil groups, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association, exhibitors and distributors was supposed to take place on Saturday But it has been postponed to Sunday. Today’s meeting is all important , as a final decision will be taken on whether the film will release in Tamil Nadu for Diwali.
Lyca on their part are playing it cool and are saying it that they will release it in other parts of the world on Diwali day irrespective on whether it releases in TN or not.
