Actress Padmapriya got married to long-time beau Jasmine Shah, a Gujarati, in Mumbai at a private family function today morning.

Actress Padmapriya, known for her sensitive portrayals on screen in Tamil and Malayalam, got married on Wednesday to her long-time beau Jasmine Shah, who is associate director of policy (South Asia) with Jamal Abdul Lateef Poverty Action Lab, and works out of Delhi.

The couple had a quiet Arya Samaj wedding in Mumbai, which was attended only by close family members, said a source close to the actress. Most of the Malayalam film fraternity were unaware of the relationship, leave alone the wedding.

Her publicist says- "Jasmine and Padmapriya met in New York when they both were pursuing their Masters from Columbia and New York University (NYU) respectively. A native of Gujarat, Jasmine is a post graduate in Mechanical Engineering from IIT and also has a Master's in Public Administration. His interest in the development sector made him shift from a corporate career to the development sector and first worked on the Jaago Re One Billion Vote Campaign. At present he is the Policy Head for South Asia with Jamal Abdul Lateef Poverty Action Lab, headquartered in Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT)."

The actress, who made her debut in Tamil with Thavamaai Thavamirindhu, announced her plans to take a break from acting and pursue higher studies in early 2012. She had observed in earlier interviews that she wanted to get married to a man who understood her love for her career, and that she felt marriage was a beautiful institution.

Padmapriya who made her debut in Malayalam with Kazhcha went on to do 48 films across all south languages including Hindi and Bengali. She was also seen in the Hindi film Striker, starring Siddharth. She is a National award special jury award winner, Tamilnadu state award winner, two time Kerala state award winner and a 3 time Filmfare award winner. She is the daughter of Brig.V.K.Janakiraman and Vijayalakshmi Janakiraman.

She holds a MBA in finance from Kirloskar Institute, PG Diploma in Environmental Law from National Law School and Masters in Public Administration from NYU. Her latest release 'Iyobinte Pushthakam' in Malayalam is not only getting her critical acclaim but the film is running to packed houses.
