Lakshmi Menon debuted in film Kumki. This film was released in 2012. After this she had donned the female lead role in the film titled Sundarapandian which made her very popular.

After that she continued to act in Sasikumar starrer Kutty Puli, Vishal starrer Pandiya Naadu and Naan Sigappu Manithan, Vimal starrer Manja Pai and Siddarth starrer Jigarthanda. Currently she is pairing with Karthi in Komban and with Gautham Karthik in Sippai. Lakshmi Menon while speaking to the media said, "I will very soon be quitting cinema. I have donned the role of a village girl and the girl next door type in many films.

I am getting only these kinds of stereo type roles which I don’t like. I am bored acting in stereo type roles. Hence I will quit acting. Now I am going to concentrate in studies. I am now studying Plus 2. My only aim is to score high marks in the examinations. I have decided to pursue English literature and also become a fashion designer."
