Komban case is to help Udhayanidhi Stalin starrer Nanbenda?

The controversy surrounding Karthi Sivakumar-starrer Komban does not seem to be over yet as a petition was filed in the Madras High Court Bench here on Tuesday accusing Puthiya Tamilagam (PT) founder president K. Krishnasamy of having filed a case against the movie to “help” Udhayanidhi Stalin starrer Nanbenda.

The producer of Komban, KE Gnanavel Raja has said that his production house, Studio Green, has filed a defamation suit against the Puthiya Thamizhagam leader, Krishnaswamy for ruining their release plan.

During the release of the film, Krishnaswamy created a lot of problem for Komban and tried to stall the release with an allegation that the film would cause communal unrest in the state if released. Eventually, Komban was released a day earlier after the court’s order in favour of the filmmakers. The Karthi starrer is doing well at the box office that the producers held a success meet today and during this event announced that they’ve filed a defamation suit against Krishnaswamy for ruining the film’s release. He added that the Producers’ Council has also agreed to accord complete support to the producers in such issues in the future.

S.M.A. Gandhimathinathan, a member of Tuticorin District Consumer Forum and of Devendra Kula Vellalar community represented by Mr. Krishnasamy, had made the accusation in an affidavit filed in support of a petition urging the court to include him also as a party to a public interest litigation petition against Komban.

Rubbishing claims of Mr. Krishnasamy that Komban had the potential to instigate caste clashes in southern districts, Mr. Gandhimathinathan alleged that it was the PT president who had been pitting Devendra Kula Vellalar youth against other caste groups.
