Officials of the Income Tax department today conducted raids at the properties of actors Vijay, Samantha and Nayanthara and leading financier Anbu Chezhian, who is also a producer.

The raids, which came just one day ahead of the release of Vijay-starrer ‘Puli’, has sent ripples in the industry and among Vijay fans. It is said raids were being conducted in Chennai, Hyderabad, Madurai and Kochi.

“Officials are simultaneously raiding more than 30 places. Vijay’s house and office, Nayanthara’s house in Kochi, Samantha’s residence and other places have been brought under scrutiny,” sources said.

The raids were conducted to find out whether there is any black money in the possession of these popular names of cinema industry. “Officials have been divided into various teams for the operation,” sources added.
