VIP 2 titled 'Thanga Magan', Dhanush picks Superstar's movie title once again

Cinematographer Velraj turned director with Velai Illa Pattadhari which turned out to be massive hit last year. The duo has come together once again for a film which was tentavievly titled as Vellai Illa Pattadhari 2.
It was earlier reported that, Kollywood top actor Dhanush is all set to announce the title of the film.

The unit has completed the shoot and is in post-production phase now. The team revealed the title of the film and the first look on Saturday. According to our latest reports, Dhanush’s next film titled is finalised as, ‘Thanga Magan’.

No need to say... Its a Rajinikanth film title which was released in year 1983. It clearly explains that Rajinikanth’s son in law and top Kollywood actor Dhanush is using Rajini’s title once again.

Previously, Dhanush has used Rajinikanth’s title in ‘Polladhavan, Padikkathavan and Mappillai. According to the reports, Dhanush has revealed the title of his next film yesterday on the occasion of his son, Yatra’s birthday.

Pollathavan

Rajini acted with same title ‘Pollathavan’ in the year 1980. Muktha V.Srinivasan directed the project and it was a stupendous success. Dhanush did a movie with same title in 2007. Vetrimaaran directed the movie. The movie was also a success. As a sentiment, Dhanush started to keep Rajini movie titles.

Padikatahavan

In 1985, Rajini acted in the movie ‘Padikathavan’ along with Sivaji Ganesan and it was a huge success. Going by success of ‘Pollathavan’, Dhanush used the same title in 2009 and the movie was directed by Sooraj. But this time the movie was a failure at Box-office.

Mappillai

Mappillai is blockbuster movie of Rajinikanth in 1989 where Chiranjeevi did a cameo role. The movie featured Sri Vidya in pivotal role. The remake was done in 2011 with Hansika in female lead and Manisha filling shoes of Sri Vidya. The movie was a colossal flop.

Thanga Magan

Rajini already used the title ‘Thangamagan’ in 1983 and A.Jagannathan directed the original. But this time we have to keep our fingers crossed to know whether this project will be a success or failure.


‘Thanga Magan’ is directed by Velraj and it mainly stars Amy Jackson and Samantha Ruth Pabhu in lead roles. Music of this film is composed by young music composer Anirudh Ravichander.
