AR Rahman take on ‘intolerance’
Agreeing with Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s statement on growing intolerance in the country, music maestro A R Rahman has said that he faced a similar situation a couple of months ago, when a Muslim group issued a fatwa against him.

Speaking at the 46th International Film Festival of India in Goa, he termed the protests against the perceived intolerance in the country as “poetic” since it is non-violent in nature.

“Everything should be done classily and any kind of revolt should be classy. I think it is very poetic what people are doing rather than hitting each other,” the Oscar-Grammy winner said.

When reporters asked him if Muslims are unsafe in the country, he said, “I am not in the state of mind to answer this question.”

“Nothing should be violent. We’re all ultra-civilized people and we should show the world that we are the best civilization,” Rahman said, adding that we hail from the nation of Mahatma Gandhi.

We should set an example for the world because we come from the land of Mahatma Gandhi; he has shown how a revolution can have an impact without any violence, he added.
