Nadigar Sangam reaches out to flood victims

Dismissing reports in some sections of the media that the South Indian Artistes Association did not help people in rain affected areas, the Nadigar Sangam has come out with a detailed statement, listing out

various relief measures offered by it to rain victims. In the statement, the association said its office-bearers met people in Chennai, Cuddalore and other districts and offered relief material to them. “It is not true that we have not helped out the flood victims,” it said.

Meanwhile, the newly elected office-bearers of Nadigar Sangam called on DMK president M Karunanidhi and DMDK supremo Vijayakanth in Chennai on Saturday evening. They also met senior actor and journalist Cho Ramaswamy at a hospital in Chennai.

“We wanted to get the wishes of Kalaignar (Karunandhi), Captain (Vijayakanth) and Cho. They wished us all the best,” the actors said. Last week, Nasser, Vishal Karthi and others met chief minister J Jayalalithaa, it may be recalled.

After the meeting, Nasser told reporters that he introduced the new members of the Nadigar Sangam to the chief minister and thanked for her cooperation for the smooth conduct of the elections.
