'Nayanthara is the most disciplined actress', says 'Mookuthi Amman' Director RJ Balaji

Nearly two decades ago, around 2000s, Kollywood witnessed numerous devotional movies based on Amman (Goddess), by following the path of super hit 'Amman' starring Suresh and Soundrya. Ramya Krishnan raised to fame due to her terrific performance as Amman. Though dubbed from Telugu movie 'Ammoru', directed by Kodi Ramakrishna, the movie made a good run in all centers in Tamil Nadu by attracting Amman devotees and family audiences to theatres.

Since there is a scarcity of devotional movies genre now in Kollywood or may in Indian cinema close to a decade, RJ Balaji is coming up with a devotional drama titled 'Mookuthi Amman'. The film features Nayanthara in the role of Goddess Durga.

Speaking in a recent Instagram chat session, RJ Balaji said that Mookuthi Amman may become one of the first films to hit the screens post the lockdown. The movie is originally planned for the Summer holidays release, currently, the post-production works of this film are going on in full swing.

Talking about Nayanthara, Balaji said: "Nayanthara is the most disciplined actress I've worked with and that's why she is still the number one heroine in this male-dominated industry".

As many films are now opting for a direct digital release, rumors started spreading, stating that even Mookuthi Amman will opt for an OTT release. But director RJ Balaji denied all those rumors. He said that Mookuthi Amman will definitely have a theatrical release.

The film also has Moulee, Urvashi, Indhuja, Smruthi Venkat and RJ Balaji in the cast. Mookuthi Amman is being produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the banner Vels Films International. Girish G is composing the music and Dinesh Krishnan is the cinematographer. The release date of the movie will be announced once the situation comes back to the normal state.

Nayanthara also has "Annaatthe" with Rajinikanth and Keerthy Suresh, "Netrikann" directed by Milind Rau and "Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal" with Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha Akkineni.
