Vijay starrer Master is one of the most anticipated films of this year. Since the time of the announcement of project featuring Thalapathy Vijay and Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi for Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial, fans were left extremely excited and eagerly waiting for the movie release.

The movie was supposed to hit the screens on April 9 this year. Due to the nationwide lockdown, the release of Master has been stalled. The post-production works of the film are going on, and the film is now gearing up to release in five languages at the same time. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj recently said that there are still 20 days of work to be completed and that there will be a massive celebration for sure whenever 'Master' releases.

A few reports had stated that Master will now be getting a direct-to-web release. But, one of the producers of the action-thriller, Lalit Kumar, has refuted the rumours. It has been reported that the makers of Master were offered a deal of Rs 125 crore to release the film on an OTT platform this month. Denying the reports, Lalit told a Tamil daily, “No, we don’t have any plans of releasing Master directly on any OTT platform. The film will release in theatres after lockdown"
Making movies for fans to celebrate in theatres
Now, the latest report is that 'Master' actor Vijay has given a strict warnings to the producers against releasing the film on OTT platform with out theoretical release. Vijay has reportedly said that he is making films for his fans to celebrate in the theatres.

Vijay is appearing in the role of John Durairaj aka JD Master, who is the Dean of a popular college and an undercover drug peddler, in Master. Vijay Sethupathi, the talented actor appears as the main antagonist in the movie, thus sharing the screen with Thalapathy for the first time in his career. Malavika Mohanan, the Petta fame actress appears as the female lead opposite Vijay in the movie. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music. Sathiyan Sooryan is the director of photography.
