Written and to be directed by Kamal Haasan, 'Thalaivan Irukkindraan' is one of his dream projects. It was reported that Ulaganayagan has approached Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi to play an important role in his upcoming film Thalaivan Irukkindraan.

Sources say that the film is a sequel to Thevar Magan and we hear that actors like Revathi and Vadivelu who played pivotal characters in the original have been retained in this film.

Part of media reported that Vijay Sethupathi will be seen playing Nassar's son in the film. In the original, Nassar gets killed in the climax so the sequel will see both Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi locking the horns with each other. Though there is no official confirmation on the news, some souce close to Haasan’s camp totally denies the news.
AR Rahman is scoring the music for Thalaivan Irukkindraan. The last Kamal Haasan film for which A.R. Rahman composed music was Thenali in 2000. Last year, actor Kamal Haasan had announced the revival of his long delayed project Thalaivan Irukkindraan revealing that it'll be bankrolled by Lyca productions, industry insiders murmur that Raaj Kamal Films International will be producing Thalaivan Irukkindraan.
