Ajith - MIT students designed drone technology gets an upgrade to curb COVID-19
Couple of years back MIT’s 12-member 'Daksha' team, mooted by actor Ajith Kumar first developed the drone taxi.

The actor, who first developed an interest in aero-modelling as a school student, volunteered to mentor MIT’s Team Dhaksha, which participated in Medical Express-2018 UAV Challenge held in Australia and won the second place. It was designed to deliver medical supplies by drone to places where it is not possible for humans to do.
Mentored by actor Ajith Kumar, the team is now helping the Tamil Nadu government by spraying disinfectants over large segments of the state to curb the spread of coronavirus with the help of the drones. Recently, the team had been testing the use of the drone to spray disinfectants over the locality of Koyambedu, a practical approach to curb the spread of germs. This effort has been applauded and appreciated by many. Aside from Daksha, Gaurda Aerospace, a start-up of Agni College of Technology is also contributing to help the Tamil Nadu government by providing drone services to combat the pandemic.
