Atlee's 'Andhaghaaram' heading to Netflix for direct OTT release following the path of 'Ponmagal Vandhal'

Kollyinsider reported a month back that 'Andhaghaaram' may release directly in OTT platform. Now new reports emerge that the movie OTT rights may be sold to Netflix.

Jyotika starrer 'Ponmagal Vandhal' released direcly on Prime Video few days ago and has been receiving mixed response among the audience. While Keerthy Suresh starrer 'Penguin' is slated to release direcly on Prime Video later this month, the latest buzz is that 'Andhaghaaram', might get released on Netflix.

Andhaghaaram is a suspense thriller directed by debutant filmmaker V Vignarajan. Atlee’s home banner 'A for Apple' came forward to release this long delayed film. Atlee had released the trailer of the film last month which raised the expectation of the film. Recently Bollywood director Karan Johar and Master director Lokesh Kanagaraj lauded the trailer.

Speaking to a daily about releasing the movie directly on Netflix, director Vignarajan said, “The production house is in talks with the OTT platform and negotiations are still on. An official announcement will be made soon.

Vignarajan adds, “The story is inspired by a real-life incident and the script was written in three weeks. The main element of Andhaghaaram will be its screenplay as its quite interesting with a big revelation coming at the interval. It doesn’t stick to one genre as combines elements of the supernatural with thriller.

Arjun Das of 'Kaithi' fame, Vinod Kishan of 'Naan Mahaan Alla' fame, Pooja and Kumar Natarajan play the leads in the film. There are three stories, and they play the leads in these stories. The film's cast also includes Meesha Ghoshal, 'Jeeva'Ravi, 'Rail' Ravi and Mahendra Mullath.

Produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jayaram from Passion Studios Production in association with K Poorna Chandra of O2 Pictures and Priya Atlee, the film has music by Pradeep Kumar, Edwin Sakay wielding the camera and Sathyaraj Natarajan doing the editing work.
