Vaibhav and Venkat Prabhu staring 'Lock Up' is the latest to join the direct OTT release. 'Lock Up' directed by debutant SG Charles, is one of those low budget movies that had a powerful cast and generated lot of expectation among audience.

The teaser of the movie released late last year was well received and the fans were expecting its release, but due to Coronavirus lockdown the movie’s release date was not announced. But now the makers have decided to stream it online directly on OTT by skipping theatre release.

The streaming rights for the film have been acquired by ZEE5, and the platform is planning to premier it on July. The satellite rights was earlier bagged by Sun TV and digital/streaming rights acquired by Sun Network's SunNXT. But now the agreements seems to have cancelled.
After after Jai-starrer 'Jarugandi', 'Lock Up' is the second production venture from actor Nithin Sathyaa, who has associated with Vaibhav and Venkat Prabhu in his previous outings.

Vaibhav plays a sincere cop while Venkat Prabhu who will also be seen a cop has a grey shade in the film. Poorna will be seen as the mother of a teenage girl, in a crucial role. It is for the first time that she will be seen essaying a character which is much older than her real age. Vani Bhojan plays Vaibhav’s love interest – though there isn’t much scope for a romantic track as the film deals with a serious subject.

Touted to be a suspense thriller, the film has cinematography by Santhanam Sekhar, editing by Anand Geraldin and music by Arrol Corelli, action choreography by Miracle Michael.

With the theatres closed for more than 100 days due to the coronavirus pandemic, several makers are opting for direct digital releases. Notably, Vaibhav’s earlier release 'RK Nagar' was one of the first films to hit streaming platforms directly. Recently well known films like 'Ponmagal Vandhal' and 'Penguin' premiered on Amazon Prime. Films like 'Andhagaaram', 'Andava Kanom', 'Vaa Deal', 'Cocktail', and 'Danny' have also been confirmed for direct digital releases.
