Recently trailer of Malayalam movie 'Shakeela' was released on Youtube on June 28th, directed by Sugesh.

This has created lot of confusions and wondered what happened to acclaimed Kannada director Indrajit Lankesh's directorial Shakila biopic starring Richa Chadha and Pankaj Tripathi.

Later the Indrajit cleared the air saying the YouTube version is just the short documentary video not related to actress Shakila, the video which went viral because of the same name for title. Now that 18 minutes long 'Shakeela' short film is available on Youtube from July 5th (Scroll down to watch). The short film gained popularity because of the name and trending for multiple reasons. It has already garnered more than three lakh views, and around 10k likes on the platform.

Claiming complete rights over Shakila biopic, Indrajit Lankesh stated that the Shakeela biopic would be a women centric subject and had a good message for the audience.
Produced by Magic Cinemas, this biopic will be dubbed and released in various languages. Apart from Richa Chadha and Pankaj Tripathi, Ester Noronha and Rajeev Pillai are also part of this biopic of adult entertainment star Shakeela. The makers have finished production work and completed the censor formalities. The movie was all set to hit the screens once theatres are open.

Now Indrajit has been getting offers from various streaming platforms for 'Shakila biopic' exclusive premiere after the success of the short-film on the same name. The makers of film now planing for an OTT release. The director Indrajit Lankesh believes that an OTT release will help the film to reach a wider range of audience and guarantee its success. He also mentioned that they’re in talks with streaming platform Netflix. Supposedly a MNC has bagged the dubbing rights of the biopic in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
