Actor Ponnambalam, well known as Villian Kabali from his famous charater in Sathyaraj's 'Walter Vettrivel' movie.

The actor, stunt-man made it big as villain in several films including Rajini, Kamal Haasan, Ajith starters, is unwell in recent times and got admitted in a private hospital to undergo kidney transplant. Many artistes including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Dhanush, Vishal, Karthi offered monetary help.

The star has recovered now and is back to normal, at his residence. In an interview, he said he has been suffering from financial issues, as he faced a few losses in his business. Due to severe financial distress and health issues, Ponnambalam said, he has contemplated suicide many times in the last few days.

The actor received relief in the form of friends from the film Industry who stepped in to help. Many of his well-wishers called him and spoke to him and volunteered to come to his aid. His hospital bill was footed by actor Sharath Kumar.

Ponnambalam, said, 'Ajith has always been lending a helping hand to needy. During one shooting, coming to know that a young boy from a poor family needed Rs 67000 for heart surgery Ajith made sure he paid the bill through his wife Shalini. He never said it outside'. He is so kind, generous and helpful so, his fans are celebrating him, said Ponnambalam

He is now dependent on the union of stunt performers and hopes to receive retirement funds and has placed a request for help.
